Bishops Peak and the Ultimate View
Father's day weekend, Jeff and I stayed in San Luis Obispo so we decided we would just relax and do some of things that are right here in our back yard. Seems like we are always going that we never take advantage of the beauty around us...which is FREE.
We decided on a hike up Bishop's Peak. We park and we are off. Of course Melodee is strugglin we haven't even got to the first "break" of trees and I'm like...Baby I think I'm asthmatic. =) (Later I learned that this was the "hard" straight up way to Bishops Peak ...apparently ...there is a more gently hike around the mountain) Jeff is way ahead of me...and I'm getting frustrated. Boy has the water. Once I make it to Jeff...I start crying. He is like are you kidding me? So we sit...talk about fears...doubts and even how different we are....and that it is just hard right now. I guess in my head, I just feel like I can't "keep up"..that I'm holding Jeff back..that I'm the weak link. So its hard. So when we go for a fun hike...and he is way ahead.....gives time to think. Thus the crying.
Long story short. On the hike...I got stung by a bee and I fell on the way down..stepped in a cow hole or something. But I made it...Jeff and I decided that this hike...wasn't about "time" or exercise.....it was just about making it to the top and enjoying the view.
This California adventure has been a little more steep than I had imagined but despite the falls, the stings, and the lack of strength at times I continue on...and the best part....Jeff is right there to give me a hand, direct me, and give thanks as we take in the view.
Remember it not about the time we have in this world, it is just about getting to heaven. (That's what I consider the ultimate view) It will take some time....alot of frustration...and even some falls but if we travel together watching and caring for each other.....the journey will be sweeter.
